Facts and Figures - Tourism in Piedmont

Tourism in Unesco Piedmont  is going upwards:  30% increase over 10 years!

5,5 milliards: that’s the value tourism is worth in Piedmont.  Just multiply the daily spending per person in  this region being evaluated 180 euro by the number of reservations in Langhe and Roero 640.000 and you get the final revenue this region is providing.  Even if between 2004 and today we got some pretty critical moments tourism didn’t suffer that much due to the fact that individuals spending their holidays in this region have basically the desire of gastronomy and fine, elegant wine tasting and do know what’s the cost of producing quality level products.

Compare 275.536 persons spending at least one night in 2014 towards 265.629 in 2013.   Travellers coming from abroad being 146.720 in total,  do count for 53% of overall tourism.  On the first place we’ve got Switzerland and Lichtenstein (38.392 arrivals),  followed by Germany (22.335 arrivals),  France (11.543)  and USA (10.480).  Also China is booming with 1.355 arrivals compared to 834 of last year.  And of course Italians are present with 128.816 arrivals.  Also the number of overnight stays is increasing (2,1%) from 626.821 to 640.485 and the average overnight stay is increasing too reaching 2,3 days.
